Jen & Mike’s engagment session took place last Sunday in Burnaby. They toted along their pup, Haley, and Jen’s sister Tasha, who kindly helped out! Mike & Jen have been together for 12 years and JUST celebrated an anniversary (congrats you two crazy kids!). They got engaged a year and a half ago in Vegas. I simply LOVE their engagement story. Jen tells it with such humour, I had to share it in her words. She is so sweet…
“In October 2011, the two of us, along with Mike’s sister, Teresa, and her boyfriend Vince, decided to take a weekend trip down to Vegas. Prior to the trip, I noticed Mike was acting out of sorts and stranger than usual. For those that really know Mike, he is strange to begin with but what I was sensing from him was a whole new level of “strange”. On our second day in Vegas, Mike told me that the four of us were going to have dinner at the Eiffel Tower restaurant that evening. Later that day, as we were preparing to head back to the hotel to get ready for dinner, I learned that Teresa and Vince weren’t going to be joining us….apparently the two had a spat when Vince refused to leave the casino. Mike and I proceeded on to dinner without them and when we they seated us at our table, there was an arrangement of roses and petals scattered all over the table. Funny, I thought, how come all the other tables don’t have that? When the waiter finally came over, rather than presenting us with a menu like most dining establishments, he removed our plates to uncover a list of items that they would be serving us that night. Ok, now things are getting really strange. I mean, what kind of restaurant chooses your meals for you?? As the night progressed, I could definitely tell there was something going on. Mike’s not very subtle at times so when you notice someone peering over your head every three minutes, you can only assume a couple things: that’s he gawking at a hot girl or there’s a leprechaun enticing him with a pot of gold. Our waiter finally came with our final course, dessert, and when he placed it on the table, I was floored!! It was like nothing I’ve ever seen before…..two tiers of mouthwatering white chocolate truffle topped off with a sugar confection moulded into a crisp dome and surrounded by rich, melted chocolate. As I’m oohing and aahing over this, I hear Mike softly say “sooooooo?”. So what? Well unbeknownst to me, there on the plate, written in chocolate drizzle were the words, Will You Marry Me? I said yes of course.” I love the story! Jen’s reaction to the dessert has to be the cutest thing!
