Chase proposed Christmas morning in 2010. It was our first Christmas morning together at their new place. Chase kept joking that he got Laura another cat for Christmas (they already have one). When he said he had one more present for Laura, she got nervous that he actually did get a cat!

Well she was very happy and VERY surprised when he got down on one knee and proposed! Of course, Laura said YES!

I had such a great time shooting Laura and Chase’s engagement session. Laura and Chase and easy going and absolutely lovely to be around. Plus they are naturals in front of the camera… not to mention, they are pretty good looking peeps.

Can’t wait until your July wedding!!!

Bella is a golden retriever and she is almost nine weeks old today. She has grown so much in the week and a half that we have had her. Last night was the first chance I have had to take a picture of her that wasn’t on my iphone. Like any puppy, she is super active and needs our full attention. I want to make sure to grab at least one shot every week so you can see her grow and so I don’t forget!

The morning started with excitement, as Shanna and her 6 bridesmaids got ready in her apartment. The girls dressed in coral strapless dresses and Shanna dawned a flowing – sweetheart neckline strapless gown from the Bridal Gallery.

We arrived at the church where Shanna and David had a plan to hold hands around the corner of the church before the ceremony began without looking at one another. A very cute twist on the first “look”. They smiled giddily as they held each other’s hand. The ceremony was sweet – and perfectly “them.”

We lucked out with weather for the portraits. It was slightly sunny for a few moments here and there as we shot them. Then it was off to Maple Ridge for the reception. Shanna’s friend had kindly offered to have the reception at her home. The Tent was decorated with cute coral details and fresh flowers. The food was excellent and the dancing was a really good time for all.

Shanna & David are off to Italy for their honeymoon. I know they will love it!

The blog has been quiet for the past month, but this May it’s going to be as busy as ever with lots of weddings, engagements, photos from our travels, and images of our new baby pup, Bella (we pick her up tomorrow).

It happened in Coal Harbour, in front of a flower shop, and amongst the snow and cold wind. David kissed Shanna and held her close before he asked her to spend her life with him. In the classic Shanna way, she responded by saying “No… Shut up…!!!!!” then moments later realized that she forgot to say yes. Yes. The answer was yes. You can read Shanna’s entire story of how they met and fell in love here.

I met Shanna last year, as I gave her a ride home from a Jamie Delaine practice Image Quest talk in Langley. You see, Shanna is a photographer too and we had chatted a little bit at the session. She needed a ride home and I offered to have her hop in with me. Well, on the drive, Shanna’s positive attitude and enthusiasm really made me smile. A few weeks later, I asked her to second shoot for me and from there, Shanna helped me at a handful of my 2011 weddings. We got to know one another… and as we did, I really got to care for Shanna as a friend, and now I get to care for her as a bride to be. What I learned first and formost about Shanna over the past year is just how much Shanna loves David and how she was secretly hoping they might get married in 2012.

Well, she is no longer hoping. It’s happening. Shanna and David will be married at the beginning of May 2012. I was very pleased to officially meet David. He is not only terribly kind and thoughtful, he is quite obviously head over heals in love with Shanna.

I have the privilege of shooting her wedding and witnessing their nuptials this May. I want to say thank you for having me along to celebrate and trusting me to capture your day, Shanna & David. Hope you enjoy the engagement images as much as I do! Here are just a few of my favorites…

If you know me well enough, you know I have forever had OGD (Obsessive Golden Disorder) all of my life. I finally get to have my very own golden this summer! I can barely sleep at night, planning our new pup’s arrival, reading blogs, thinking about what colour collar to get her, and enjoying our new life with her. I’m worse than a kid on Christmas eve. Poor Adam. I just LOVE them!

Heheh. Toooo cute!This is the biggest pup, Diesel. He is probably the cutest at about two times the size of the rest and by far the sleepiest.
And we think this is the little girl that we will be taking home…She is so chunky and happy to nap in my arms.This little one was an acrobat.Puppy pile.Here she is snoozing.This little guy LOVES a tummy scratch already. He lifts his paw up to accomodate the belly rub!And here is our current pick of the litter going for her first power stroll.We get to visit just one more time next week before she comes home with us in May. I miss the puppies already!!!
