I’m so in love with this couple, this shoot, this 2012 wedding to be. Here’s a sneak peek of their adorable and serene engagement session at Burnaby’s very own Deer Lake Park.

Judy and Dominique met in December 2009 at a mutual friend’s holiday get together in Richmond. Judy overheard Dominique saying he had come to the party via transit (from Burnaby). Judy, being the kind hearted person she is, offered Dominique a ride to the skytrain. He accepted. Well, along the way, they got to chatting and rather than dropping him at a station, she drove him to his front door.
Along the ride to Dominique’s home, they had talked about Dominique previous hairstyles (think long and flowy) and after laughing about his old do, Judy insisted she had to see a photo. Dominique offered to send a picture of himself so Judy gave him her e-mail address and the next evening there was an e-mail with five shots of himself – long hair, getting it cut (for BC children’s hospital), and then short hair…and virtually no hair. Dominique wrote that he found the ride home very entertaining. Hehehe J.
When he returned from his Christmas holidays, he e-mailed Judy (good work Dominique) and after a week, they met for a movie & dinner. The rest… is history. Judy and Dominique are now engaged and so excited for their December wedding.
When I met Judy, we hit is off right away. We gabbed forever about things we like, her love for Dominique, and the wedding of course. To be fair, I had vowed to myself, to not shoot any sessions this December. No ifs ands or buts. With all that I have going on, teaching, counseling, and photoging, this lady needs a serious break! But Judy was referred by one of my best friends and her co-worker, Laurie. I decided that had to see if we would have fun by meeting Judy for coffee. And both Judy and I quickly agreed that we would and we booked in the wedding.
Thank you Judy and Dominique for sharing a wonderful evening with Adam and I. We really love your love for one another and your fun spirits!
Diidididididi!

Meet Erika & Malcolm. I am proud to say that Adam and I have a lot in common with these two. 1) Erika and Malcolm just celebrated their one year wedding anniversary this past Sunday. Adam and I celebrated our two year anniversary one week earlier. 2) Erika is a wedding and portrait photographer based in the beautiful Okanagan (check her out). I am a portrait and wedding photographer in Vancouver (fyi ;))! 3) They live in the Okanagan! Adam and I once lived in the Okanagan! 4) Jamie Delaine shot my wedding to Adam in August 2009. Jamie Delaine shot Erika and Malcolm’s wedding in August 2010! 4) Adam and Malcolm dressed practically the same! 5) Erika and I both work in healthcare!
Well, I’m fortunate enough to have met Erika at the Jamie Delaine workshop we both attended back in June. Erika and I managed to chat each other’s ears off that day. I have to admit, I couldn’t wait to see her again! She’s just so wonderful! The kind of person you can’t resist spending time with.
We all got together to celebrate over photos and dinner at The Hooded Merganser in Penticton. We first wandered the streets of Penticton grabbing photos and having some laughs. Then over dinner, we talked about posing clients, goal setting, our businesses, client interactions, gear, travel, love, life, and more. It was a delight. An absolute delight.
Congrats to you two. May you continue to be so very happy and healthy together.
