Crescent Beach Engagement – Michelle & Pravic

This is Michelle and Pravic. Adorable right? Well, I really can’t wait to shoot their wedding on August 14th. For a lot of reasons, beyond just the fact that they are both so lovely to shoot.

The first reason is that they have two “looks” which makes for awesome diversity of shots! Look one: They ‘appear’ to have a slight serious side: It comes across as calm and collected but photographs as totally connected and kinda romantic. Who can say no to that? But the serious side is only fleeting. You see it lasts just for a second. Because, really deep down, I think they are quite silly and sweet. It just makes me think. “Yep. Whatever this is, it is right.”  And that’s their other look.

The second reason is this: They are also both super brains (just like me and Adam – cept I call Adam and I super nerds). And therefore, they are awesome, because I love brainy couples. When one brain finds the other it just makes sense to me. Kinda like that last sentence… Anyhow, I am convinced that they are running all kinds of secret experiments in their spare time, just for kicks.

Okay, finally, I have to thank the two of them because they were one of the very first couples to decide to take a chance on me! This being my first year in business, it’s not so so easy to come by gaining the trust and confidence of soon to be married couples. And I completely understand! But, I know if I just be myself and stay committed to growing, others will take confidence in me too :). So thank-you both. From the very berry bottom of my little picture takin’ heart.

P.S. I think I finally figured out a more consistent editing style for myself. “My look” as you might say. All that important stuff. I have created my very own presets in Lightroom after hundreds of hours of reading and researching and editing a few pics (by a few I mean soemething like 15,000 + photos). Sometimes the picture calls for a little something more (one pic in this post is a little different for example). And that’s when I can experiment a little more. I feel like I am still just figuring this all out so things will continue to progress, but I am excited with where I have come in 6 months. Okay, here we go…

Loved their outfits. Perfect from head to toe with some perfect accent colour and dressy factors, yet relaxed and casual. Also accessorized. Bravo. C’est fantastique!Michelle tells me she is “not photogenic”. Psssshhhhhh!

I say “Do you guys like jumping?” M&P have puzzled faces at first. But look! They really do.

Adam’s Shot.

Whoa.

Fine looking people alert! I loveeeee Michelle’s expression and Pravic’s intense eyes.

Lovely arbour for two lovely peeps.

I know what you are thinking. I must be hil-ariouuussss. I am. Actually. In a kind of off-beat crazy person kinda way.

This grass was so soft and lovely. Also a little wet. But I always think a wet butt and knees is worth it.

There is a method behind getting this next shot. Step 1: Have the couple hug. Step 2: Have the lady close her eyes and the guy look at me. Step 3: Get her to go “mmmmmm” out loud.

I love movement in photos, and I know I need to work more on this. So M & P were game to run down the pier for me.

Gosh these two make my heart skip and do a little dance.

Graduation

We took a few quick pics at home before we headed into the world of blue oversized gowns. Adam is learning the camera and its settings nice and quick. He’s awesome. That’s what the “A” in his name secretly stands for. I love this man. I am crazier about him than a squirrel is about nuts.

My dress. I bet you want to know all about it. NOT. Well, if you do, keep reading, if not, choose your own adventure. So… A nice girl at Le Chataux downtown outfitted me in this dress. I wanted a dress at H&M, but they had not a single one to offer me that would cover my entire butt. (For this reason, it’s tough to be 5’9″). I walked in and said… “Hello Miss. Please dress me up for my convocation and give me all the necessary accessories. Upon completion, I kindly ask that you charge my credit card and bag my goods.” (Or something like that). She happily obliged. And I said “thank-you”. Just some background information about me: As it happens, I am style challenged. Just ask Jamie. I just don’t know much to do about anything clothing. Most days, Adam catches me wearing my shirts inside out. I plan to hire someone someday to pick out my clothing, but for now volunteers can apply within.

Grad was great. It was sunny for the first day all week. Holla! After the ceremony, we went to the Boathouse at the Quay for dinner, which is really close to our place. And, the timing was perfect! My Mom just flew in from Scottland and she was able to join us. (A big shout out to my mom.) But! My photographer hat was pretty much off all day so I didn’t think to grab pictures once we left SFU. Duh! The food however was friggen delicious.

This is my third degree, and last for a while. I now have an Associate Degree, a BA with first class honours in Psyc, and now a Masters of Education in Counselling Psychology. That’s a lot of brain exercise. Time for a long mental holiday.

All suited up! Now let’s make it official…

Two of my best friends. Laura (left) and Rachel (right). Love them to bits.

Ha! I can’t actually tell if this is Laura or myself. Gotta get Adam a monster zoom.

Laura’s Family. A really nice group. I like them all quite a bit actually.

Laura’s hubby Rob. A good guy to bang pots with metal spoons in a parking lot with.

Laura probably won’t like being the star of my blog today. But I think she is a cutie pie and I love her!

My turn again (cause you haven’t seen enough of me)!

Caitlyn here. Adam’s mom. And owner of the garden I often feature on here.

Photo man.

My Mom says that SFU is a school for hippies and liberals. Peace and Love Mom!

Here we are – The A-Team. Meaning we both cheer for team Adam and both like getting an “A” for effort.

I think people are bonkers if they don’t think SFU is a beautiful campus. I know, the model helps ;).

Thanks to all my darling family and friends who I love so stinkin’ much for helping me master something and celebrating with me!

Little Details…

Just some things around Caitlyn’s yard and neighbourhood. I think I should go to the lantern festival one of these years. How fun would that be!!!!!!

Here’s hoping for a sunny weekend in Vancouver for pictures and bbqs :).
