Best Friend.

… her name is Jamie… And I like her because she is smart and funny. She is nice to me. She likes to buy people gifts and make them food – that’s how she expresses that she cares. She always tries to give things that are meaningful or have a shared story. She is pretty tough on herself but she doesn’t let people see that.  She’s actually a real softy if she let’s you in. She likes cheese about as much as I do and she likes poutine. Can’t say that about everyone. Which is ridiculous. Gravy. Cheese. Potato. Come on people! She’s up for just about anything, anytime – except for my taking her picture. She let’s me listen to 80′s music for at least a portion of our roadtrips. She knows a bunch of stuff about a bunch of things. She’ll drive to Vancouver from the Okanagan to pick me up and will return me at the end of the weekend when I don’t want to drive. It drives her crazy when Adam and I use business speak with each other like “touch base”. And she is pretty. Nuff said.

Vancouver Family Photography – The Kailas

Meet the Kailas! This charming family is an absolute delight to photograph! Parm (momma Kaila) spent the day before coaching the little ones on smiling. How cute is that!!! And great smiles they are! I just adore them.

We spent the morning exploring Queen’s Park in New West – which is such a great place for families as it has a petting zoo, a rose garden (the same place Adam and I had our wedding ceremony), a forrest, a waterpark, picnic areas, and two playground sections. As you might guess, we made sure to explore the playground LAST.

Given the setting, this is a very green shoot! My camera seems to suck up the green pretty good and I found myself trying to de-saturate it during post processing. But I like the bright and spring-ish feel.

xoxo

Meet Stella & Dot!!!

Last Friday I had the pleasure of shooting the ‘meet Stella & Dot‘ event that took place at the fab restaurant – Diva at the Met in downtown Vancouver. Scarlett – one of the stylists – contacted me a few weeks ago about coming out and I really can’t resist her awesomeness so quite obviously I had to go!

Actually – I know Scarlett from my very own wedding. I met her last year for the first time – she made my hair and make-up look good along with all of my bridesmaids. And let me tell ya! She was fannnntastic. We all had such a good time with her and she did an awesome job. If you want to look fab on your wedding day – or any day  (say you’re going grocery shopping or, you know, mowing the lawn)… Scarlett can help.

Oh AND! She has an incredible new website by Nordica Photography – as she won their crazy awesome contest a few weeks ago. Here it is: http://scarlettballantyne.com. I think there are some pictures from my wedding up there when I rocked the borderline platinum blonde look. Well enough about me. Bottom line: She is great and I would hire her again and again. Now go get yourself some hair, make-up, styling and jewellery from Scarlett and/or the Stella & Dot girls.

The Stella & Dot event was quite delightful with a lot of fabulous ladies and even more fabulous jewellery to eye up. I grabbed a few profile shots with a few of the ladies that were there, eager, and willing to have a camera in their face, and they were so funny and so sweet and so nice. I loved them all! It seems to me that Stella & Dot just attracts women that are incredibly worth knowing. I had so much fun! Thanks for having me along everyone!

xoxo

P.S. There are a lot of shots for this post because I really wanted everyone to be able to have quick access to a shot of themselves – more shots will also be available on the disk that is to be mailed to Scarlett. You can save from the website and use them however you like. I’m down with that.
